Hello, l am a high school student who read your

article about public punishment in English class. After reading your

humiliating punishment’. In my opinion, l strongly disagree with the

‘shaming punishment’ in a sense that it reveals identity of criminals

and makes them feel humiliated and embarrassed. l was also dumfounded to 
learn that a judge had a criminal who was convicted of theft wear a 
sandwich board that declared: “ l AM A CONVICTED THIEF.” l think the 
public punishment brings about no t only humiliation and mortification of 
the criminal but also those of his family, his friends, and everyone that 
is acquainted with him. l learned that the judge Poe insisted that having 
somebody declare that he is a criminal in public is the best thing in that 
it brings children to see pacing criminal as an example.
However, l 
totally disagree with his agreement because l think it not only offends 
criminals but also deteriorates reputation of their families and 
communities. Thank you for pointing out the issue over shaming punishment 
and l think this punishment is a matter that everyone has to think about 
weather this would be a good idea or a bad idea.
